I've shot with both of these, but sometimes sharing a camera doesn't have its perks....and I'm ready to take me and photography to the next level, so who wants to be the first to sow a seed towards getting my my camera?! :)
Preferably the Nikon D300!

I just bought a Nikon D80 and love it. I don't know much about the D300, but you can get a demo model of the D80 for the same price as the D300 and the D80 is a far superior camera.
I got mine from adoroma.com. They have a used section and they carry new cameras that people purchased and changed their minds. My camera was still in the package but it was a return.
Just a thought.

Nice! I love when others get new cams and are happy with it. I'll check out the reviews on the D80 and maybe go to a store to get a feel for it.
